Diplo live set

Diplo is definitely one of the most interesting DJs of recent years, he crosses scenes while he borrows and references worldwide culture. So when he played in Melbourne to a packed Prince of Wales, the crowd was eagerly anticipating something special and if you weren't there you missed an epic set that bordered on 3 hours. This week we begin a special series of three downloads starting with part 1 of Diplo's set. Diplo's set from the Prince of Wales, part 1. Please don't re-host this, just use the URL to link here. Dizzee Rascal has been all over Australia this year, headlining two festival within 8 months, which must be a record. Well, if you haven't heard enough of East London's prolific export, in the YouTube below he flips the Ting Tings hit single 'What's My Name' with some amusing results.

The Festival of festivals

Parklife on Sunday ushered in the start of the festival season here in Melbourne. There's more festivals than ever at the moment and they seem to come and go with unsurprising regularity. However, one festival I've always been jealous of is All Tomorrow's Parties. The idea of this one is that the festival is headlined and curated by an act - usually a pretty influential one. The performances take place in smaller, more suited venues - it's a true music lovers' festival. The ticket price also includes accommodation as the festival takes place over a few days outside a standard music festival venue. Today it was announced ATP is coming to Australia, with the first one to be curated by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It's happening on January 9 & 10 at Mt Buller and the first round of announced acts include Spiritualized, M. Gira of the Swans, Roland S Howard and the Fuck Buttons. Even if the lineup doesn't blow you away I think it's interesting to note that ATP coming here is an indication that while we love our festivals, we want a bit more of an experience than massive stage, terrible sound and a mass of people.

Favela Rock time

This is our first Favela post lock-out so we're looking forward to once again welcoming the stragglers, but we recommend getting there early anyway to take full advantage of the $5 shots of Jager and Agwa. The Cool Kids have just dropped the video to 'Delivery Man'. It looks like they've managed to keep their classic look even though their budget for clips has clearly increased since they dropped Black Mags.

New TV On The Radio video

TV On The Radio have just dropped their latest album, Dear Science, and this is one of the first singles, 'Golden Age'. It has an almost early Prince vibe to it, while the video is pretty wacky. Apparently it is referencing the much disputed Mayan Apocalypse in 2012, but the Mayans weren't all doom and gloom, and the apocalypse is not necessarily the end of the world, it could even just be a big party. Perhaps it would look like the clip above.
